My Goodreads Giveaway of six autographed advance reading copies of Eagle Talons, The Iron Horse Chronicles—Book One, successfully completed on August 5, 2014. The contest ran for six weeks. Four of the winners reside in the United States, while one each reside in Canada and Great Britain. Total entries for the contest reached 1,096. Of that total, 515 indicated to Goodreads that they intended to read the book. That would be wonderful, if all of them follow through.
[media-credit name=”Goodreads” align=”alignleft” width=”150″][/media-credit]Goodreads has rapidly gained the leading position on the Internet as the place for readers and writers to connect. Readers share their reading experiences with other readers and interact with authors. The winners of the six books I gave away have the opportunity to write a review to post on Goodreads and Amazon. Amazon acquired Goodreads in 2013, and when a reader selects a book on Goodreads a link connects directly to Amazon.com.
If you are a reader who has not tried Goodreads, I suggest you explore the possibilities by going to their website: https://www.goodreads.com/. You can join Goodreads for free. You can search for books by your favorite genres and participate in contests. Goodreads will send you a regular email announcing new books and recommending those that match your preferences. A word of caution: if you have a Facebook account, Goodreads automatically links to it. You can opt out if you do not want your friends to see what you are reading.
An Author Profile page enables readers to learn more about a writer and gain information about that author’s books. Check out my Author Profile page, as an example: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/8115438.Robert_Lee_Murphy?from_search=true. My Author Profile page includes a link to my website, and postings to my website automatically appear on Goodreads.
