Railway & Locomotive Historical Society

Railway & Locomotive Historical Society is North America’s oldest society devoted to the study and preservation of railway history. I am proud to be a new member of this prestigious organization. R&LHS has over 2,400 members worldwide. Founded in 1921, R&LHS was among the first organizations to pursue formal studies in the history of technology. You can learn more at: http://rlhs.org/.

Railroad History, published twice yearly by the society, is the oldest railroad history journal in North America. Membership includes a subscription to the publication. Back issues of many of the publications are available from the society. The society maintains an archival center at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, California.

R&LHS will hold its annual membership meeting this year from June 5 through June 8, 2014, in Nevada, with starting and ending locations in Las Vegas and Henderson. The group will travel by bus from Las Vegas to Ely, Nevada, where they will visit the Northern Nevada Railway, National Historic Landmark. NNRY’s website is: http://www.nnry.com/.

After returning to Las Vegas, the members will visit the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Boulder City, Nevada. Learn more at:  http://www.nevadasouthern.com/.
